I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Breath of Life: Living God’s Promise of Peace in the 7 Dimensions of Wellness by Karen Ferguson is a book written with the primary aim of helping people to achieve a level of serene wellness. The book is targeted mainly for Christians that are looking a practical way of bettering themselves in a variety of aspects of their life. The book meticulously covers Spiritual, Physical, mental, emotional Social, vocational and financial states and offers solutions and ways of accomplishing a wellness in all of the mentioned areas.

The personal experiences and stories of the author enhance the books primary goal which is to help people overcome their problems and find solutions even when everything looks that is lost.

There is an optimistic cathartic aura saturated throughout the book which I liked. I am not a believer, but I did find useful tips and ways of thinking that I can use in my life. I especially appreciated the CALM (Chest, Arms, Legs, Mouth) method the author described I found it very useful for managing anxiety and stress.

Another item that I liked about this book is that it’s efficient, it is hands on. The seven chapters of the book are divided into three days each totaling 21 days which is the number of days give or take that someone needs to apply him/herself to acquire a habit.

At the end of each day, the author proposes the study of :

  1. A contemporary worship song for inspiration
  2. A scripture verse for meditation
  3. A question for reflections
  4. A wellness tip for practical application.

At the end of the book, there are some pages that you can use as your personal Journal which I found very useful. I am sure that people that are well versed in the Bible will appreciate more this book than I did.

Overall a very well written and thoughtful book which I think delivers its primary goal which is to help people feel and get better with their lives.

Highly recommended.
