Eric Simmons

Thank you, Andreas, for this tremendous opportunity to introduce myself to your readers.  I’m indebted to you for reviewing my book and am most appreciative of your positive feedback about it.  I view you as both a mentor and newfound friend who is helping me get up to speed on this fantastic world of book writing.

As an introduction, I was born in Little Rock, Arkansas and moved to Montgomery, Alabama at the age of 13 with my Mother who raised me as a single parent.  I went on to graduate from Auburn University where I finished in the Top 10% of my class (B.S. Business Administration, Marketing minor) and was a Varsity Basketball letterman.  I’ve been married to my beautiful wife, Cynthia, for 37 years and we have three young adults (Derek, Dominique, and Kevin).  My wife and I reside in Johns Creek, Georgia just north of Atlanta.

After College, I spent about 3 decades in Corporate America in various Sales/Sales Management roles with Fortune 500 employers IBM, AT&T, GE, MCI and W.W. Grainger.  My domestic business travels took me to 37 states, and my international business travels took me to Paris, Brussels and Hong Kong where I was successful in closing sales of $500,000, $1 million, and $25 million respectively.  For at least 15 years, people suggested I write a book about my life.  Apparently, they found my numerous life “stories” interesting.  After years of procrastination and making excuses, I mustered up the courage, a year and a half ago, to write my Memoir, “Not Far From The Tree.”  It’s dedicated to my Mother and speaks to the invaluable “seeds of knowledge” she passed onto me.  The foundation as relates to any success I’ve had in life, whether it be large or small, is attributable to my Mother and God.

Operating on a low budget, I searched for the most cost effective way(s) to get a book published.  I chose the Independent or Indie as we’re called, self-publishing route.  This enabled me to use “print on demand” resources for printing.  Amazon was my first distributor of the print version and eBook version of my book.  Recently, Barnes & Noble became my second print version distributor.  Currently, I’m in the process of incorporating Social Media (currently Facebook, Twitter, and Google+) to expand my “Marketing” reach as relates to the book.  I’ve also developed a “One Stop Shop,” as I call it, website ( that also has a Blog page that I hope fans and future procurers of the book will enjoy.

Thank you for your time and for allowing me to share a little bit about myself with you.
