The Joy of Giving Massage: How to Give a Massage so Good You’ll Want to Do It All the Time by Shai Plonski is not what you will expect from a massage book.
The title is not misleading, it does say the joy of giving a massage, and that’s what the author delivers.
The writer presents the spiritual and metaphysical joy that someone’s feels and experiences when giving a massage.
It analyses the feelings a person goes through when he is able to give a massage and be the focus while carrying it.
I learned a lot about the history of Thai massage which I found very interesting indeed.
Towards the end of the book, the practical part of it starts with lots of practices and techniques on how to give a massage.
There are a lot of photos that will help you understand how the techniques are applied and performed.
In conclusion, if you are looking for a book on how to give a massage and only looking for a practical application of the massage like hand position and other aspects then skip the first chapters of the book and focus on the practical parts of it.
If on the other hand you are looking for a more spiritual journey and you are searching for more spiritual contact and experience that giving a massage can give back to you then, by all means, please read the book from start to finish.
Some people are excepting a book that will tell you to push there, do this movement and so on and I am guilty as a charge because that’s how I thought this book will run.
After reading the first few chapters though I realized that there is another way to enjoy the whole procedure of giving a massage.
Most people do not like giving a massage they like receiving it, after reading this book and learning what the author had to say and the way he presented them I am confident that I will want even more now to give a massage.
I highly recommend it.
