I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

The Awakened Ape: A Biohacker’s Guide To Evolutionary Fitness, Natural Ecstasy, and Stress-Free Living by Jevan Pradas is an admirable attempt by the author to present a better alternative way of living that will allow us to improve our health and increase our happiness.

The writer advocates for a hunter-gatherer lifestyle. It provides a plethora of examples of the hunter-gatherer lifestyle that aims to convince us that if we adopt the lifestyle, we will become healthier and happier.

The author doesn’t actually tell us to do it but through the numerous examples and arguments about how great life was in the paleolithic era it’s obvious is in favor of it.

I have the notion that the author oversimplified and idolized of how a hunting-gathering society lives and behaves.

There are a lot of practical steps on how to achieve a better psychological state of being by using techniques that derive from Buddhism which I found interesting and are a good beginners guide for someone that wishes to embark on a journey of self-discovery and inner peace.

In a nutshell, the author did an excellent job of presenting his views and opinions, the book is filled with arguments, some will be loved, and other’s will be hated.

If you want to learn a lot of information about the Paleolithic era and also anecdotal stories about tribes that are still living in a state of hunting-gathering situation then this book is good start and if you are interested you can look for other books that are providing more in-depth information about the specific issue that you want to learn.
