The Power of Knowledge and Application.

The Power of Knowledge and Application.

The Power of Knowledge and Application.

“Philosophy” is such a beautiful word. In Greek, it literally means, “to be a friend of wisdom.”

Now, how does someone find wisdom? When I was younger, I asked that same question many times in my head as I tried to find answers and solutions.

After some time, I discovered that the answer is simple. If you want to become wise, then use the following formula:nothing-1394845_640

  1. Research
  2. Experiment
  3. Apply
  4. Conclude
  5. Correct your mistakes
  6. Repeat!

It’s that simple. By using this six-step process, you can evolve and learn new things through continual experimentation and accumulation and application of knowledge.

bustos-756620_640People who live the exact same life for years without challenging what they are doing or learning new things have a mind that becomes stagnant like swamp water. Their actions to change are slow and ineffective, like someone trapped in a marsh of their own ignorance.

Questioning what you are doing and how you are living is the first step to making positive change. They say that knowledge is power, but I prefer to say that knowledge will set you free. Knowledge enables you to be truly free and experience the inner peace that all great philosophers mention. From knowledge, you can achieve autonomy and independence, thus becoming an important spoke in the wheel of society. No longer will you be a sheep led and manipulated by the whims of the media.

Before I rediscovered running and adopted a plant-based diet, I was trapped in a false perspective in which I believed that the only way to become well was to intake dozens of medicines frequently advertised by the media. I didn’t know that I could turn my life around with something as simple as adopting a healthy diet and exercise regimen.

Even if you don’t have a big house, fancy car, or tons of cash, you may still have an asset (or potential asset): your health. Health is one of the most important assets that you can have, because no matter how many material things you have, if you don’t have your health, you will always be unhappy.

My research and experimentation proved to me that a whole, healthy plant-based diet—in combination with an appropriate exercise regimen—will prevent and even cure many diseases. Life became much simpler and fear-free; most importantly, I learned that our bodies are designed to function until approximately age 120. Those years can be disease-free, happy years that are void of pain or discomfort.

Knowledge is good for you. It replaces ignorance with actionable ideas towards good changes. With the right knowledge, you can make the lifestyle choices that lead to becoming that autonomous, independent person. In order to be really valuable and powerful, knowledge must be shared. That’s one of the reasons why I wrote my book, Thirsty for Health. I created this website for that same reason: to spread the truth about nutrition and its numerous benefits.

I now try to live as simply and frugally as I can, like my ancestors, the ancient Spartans, did. Rather than regretting the past, I am grateful to learn from my mistakes and adopt healthy habits such as regular exercise.diogenes-of-sinope-35766_640

Instead of watching TV, I now get the news from a few carefully chosen websites that I know have good quality content. I use my mobile phone as little as possible, and I do what I can to reduce my environmental footprint. I try to live in the present as if it is my last day on this earth and do what I can to maintain my health.

As part of my plant-based diet, I try to include as much raw food as possible. I stay away from irritants such as caffeine, alcohol, and nicotine—substances that used to keep me hostage.

In closing, I will leave you with advice that is not nutritional in nature. If you are not in love, get in love. Find someone with whom you have many things in common (and just enough little differences to keep the relationship alive and interesting). Find someone who wants the same things in life as you. Fall in love. Do not live this life alone; share it with someone else!

Thank you for visiting my little place on the net. Have a healthy day!

Regards,
Andreas Michaelides
