I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Chasing Sleep: Lonely Tussles in the Dark by Patricia Hinkley is an admirable attempt by the author to find the causes of insomnia.

The book has a lot of resources and references to books and aid material that a reader seeking for a better quality of sleep will find it very useful and rewarding.

The author tried hard to prove that a straight 8-hour sleep is something not natural and it is a concept that was created by modern society.

For me, this information was quite liberating because I am not able to do that and it was a source of anxiety and stress. So in this sense, it helped me get rid off one obstacle to my way of having quality naps.

These kinds of information and also other practical, helpful advice the author offers through her own sleepless experiences and even from numerous interviews that she took from other insomniacs.

What I got from this book is that the first issue that we need to address is to try and figure our sleep patterns and to see how much sleep do we really get in 24 hours.

The author advocated keeping a diary writing and noting down which I entirely agree with.

If you think you are not getting enough sleep or you wake up 3 or 4 a.m. every day, and then you can’t sleep then this book is definitely for you.
